METALCLOAK VIDEO: How To Install: MetalCloak TJ/LJ R.E. Front Track Bar Upgrade Kit

 

In this MetalCloak installation walkthrough, Scott Becker shows how to replace a worn Rubicon Express front track bar on a TJ/LJ Jeep with MetalCloak's Long Arm R.E. Upgrade featuring the patented two-piece Durotrak bushing. The video covers preparation (including checking the parts list and reading the instructions), safety and vehicle support, removal of the old track bar, drilling the axle and frame mounts with a 9/16" drill bit, installing the MetalCloak track bar at the axle with the provided bolt and flag nut, centering the vehicle over the axle, attaching the track bar to the frame with the supplied hardware, and final torque and jam nut tightening.

00:03 Today we're going to be installing the Rubicon Express Front Durotrak Track Bar Upgrade Kit.

00:09 This kit replaces the problematic Rubicon Express front track bar with the MetalCloak Long Arm Front Track Bar designed with our patented two-piece Durotrak bushing.

00:22 But before we do the installation, let's head over to metalcloakinstructions.com and print out the instructions and read through them completely.

00:32 Once we understand what we're getting into and we're certain we have all the necessary tools and skills, then we can start in on the installation.

00:41 Now let's go down to the shop and get started.

00:45 Let's verify that all the parts listed on the instructions page are accounted for before taking our Jeep apart.

00:55 Make sure your Jeep is in a safe location and is supported properly.

01:00 Using a 19mm socket and wrench, remove the Rubicon Express front track bar.

01:07 Using a 9/16th drill bit, drill out the front axle and frame track bar mounts.

01:14 Using the provided bolt and flag nut, install the MetalCloak front track bar to the axle mount.

01:21 Center the vehicle over the front axle, measuring carefully using lag points on each side of the vehicle until centered.

01:30 Using the provided bolts, washers and nut, install the front track bar to the frame mount.

01:37 Using a 22mm socket and wrench, tighten the front track bar bolts.

01:42 Using an adjustable wrench, tighten the front track bar jam nut.
