METALCLOAK VIDEO: How To Install: MetalCloak JK/JL Wrangler & JT Gladiator Steering Stabilizer - 1.625" Tie Rod Mount
This guide covers installing the MetalCloak Steering Stabilizer 1.625" Tie Rod Mount for the JK/JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator. It walks through the essential prep—printing and reading the instructions, verifying included parts, and making sure the Jeep is safely staged—then demonstrates removing the factory stabilizer, fitting the tie rod bracket (with the sloped end toward the driver), securing it with U-bolts, and attaching the stabilizer. Key installation tips include measuring the stabilizer eye-to-eye fully collapsed and fully extended to place the mount in the center so you retain full lock-to-lock steering, and torquing all fasteners with the recommended sockets before final checks.

[00:00] Hey, Scott Becker with MetalCloak here. We're going to install the MetalCloak Steering Stabilizer Tie Rod Mount.
[00:07] But before we do, let's go to metalcloakinstructions.com and print out and read completely through them.
[00:13] And once we understand what we're getting into and we're certain we have the necessary tools we can start in on the install.
[00:20] Now let's go down to the shop and get started.
[00:22] Our Jeep is already in a safe location and ready to be worked on, so we're gonna unbox the contents and verify that all the parts listed on the instructions page are accounted for before taking apart our Jeep.
[00:33] Looks like we're good to go!
[00:35] The pieces we will be installing are located right under here on the Jeep.
[00:38] We're now going to remove the stock steering stabilizer using an 18mm socket and wrench.
[00:43] We'll start by placing the provided Tie Rod Mount on top of the tie rod, making sure the sloped end is facing the driver's side.
[00:50] Add the U-bolts, washers, and Nylock Nuts to hold the mount in place.
[00:54] Attach the steering stabilizer to the Tie Rod Mount and use the supplied washer and nut to secure the steering stabilizer to the bracket.
[01:01] To find the correct location for your steering stabilizer, measure the stabilizer in the fully collapsed position eye to eye and then measure the stabilizer in the fully extended position eye to eye and place the tie rod mount in the center of the two measurements.
[01:16] This should allow full movement of your steering lock to lock.
[01:20] Tighten the Tie Rod Mount nylon nuts with a 7/16" socket.
[01:24] Using a 3/4" socket and wrench, tighten down the steering stabilizer hardware.
[01:29] Make sure all the hardware is fully tightened.
[01:32] Once the hardware is fully tightened, make sure your steering can turn lock to lock.
[01:37] Now that we're all done, all there is to do is to go out and enjoy your Jeep.
