METALCLOAK VIDEO: We Installed a MetalCloak Suspension on a 6G Bronco — Then Took It to the Trail

MetalCloak took a customer-owned 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch Edition from stock to a fully upgraded MetalCloak suspension package, replacing factory coilovers with in-house RockSport Black Adjustable Coilovers (2.5" aluminum body, 7/8" hardened shafts, remotely mounted eight-position reservoirs), swapping weak factory upper A-arms for 3/16" steel arms with patented Durotrak bushings and 1.25" hardened uniball joints, and installing adjustable rear upper and lower control arms with Duroflex Joints plus an adjustable 4130 chromoly rear track bar; the install includes a practical tip about dropping the gas tank for rear access and proper flag nut orientation, and the finished rig was tested at Prairie City where the customer reported noticeably smoother, more controlled performance with room to dial in firmness.

Chris at MetalCloak, 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch Edition, stock to MetalCloak suspension

[00:00] Hey, I'm Chris with MetalCloak. And today we've got a customer-owned 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch Edition straight from the factory. Is it capable? Sure, but it has its limits. But today we're taking it from bone stock to MetalCloak engineered. Let's go.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, RockSport Black Adjustable Coilover SystemMetalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, remotely mounted reservoir 8 points of adjustment

[00:31] All right, we just swapped over the factory coilover to our MetalCloak RockSport Black Adjustable Coilover System. This is built in-house by us and features a 2.5" aluminum body with oversized 7/8" hardened shafts. One of the coolest parts about this is this remotely mounted adjustable reservoir. It has eight points of adjustment, so no matter what terrain you're running, you can dial it in.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, Upper A-Arm, Durotrak Bushings hardened uniball setup

[00:52] In addition to replacing that factory coilover with our MetalCloak RockSport Black Adjustable Coilover System, we also replaced the Upper A-arm. This is ours which is 3/16" steel, form and welded that features our patented Durotrak Bushings up at the top for maximum noise vibration damping and also replaces that factory weak ball joint with an 1.25" hardened uniball setup for maximum strength and flex.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, rear upper control arms, drop gas tank

[01:32] Alright, so in order to get to the Rear Upper Control Arm on the passenger side we do need to drop the gas tank. This can be a little bit of a daunting task but with an extra pair of hands and a little bit of patience it can be easily done. It is important to note that you want the gas tank as empty as possible, and when you do drop it, please make sure it is out of the way in a well-ventilated area.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, installation tip, make sure flag nut side is on outside to avoid dropping gas tank again

[01:52] Quick tip, one of the reasons you have to drop the gas tank is to gain access to this factory control arm bolt on the frame side. When you reinstall the arms, make sure that flag nut side is on the outside. That way if you ever have to do any adjustments to the control arms, you don't have to drop the gas tank.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, rear upper and lower adjustable control arms, patented duroflex joints highest misalignment most noise vibration damping and self-centering

[02:22] As you can see, we've almost got the rear suspension of this Bronco fully dialed in. Now this kit includes a set of our Rear Upper and Rear Lower Adjustable Control Arms that feature our patented Duroflex Joint. This joint offers the highest misalignment, most noise vibration damping, and our self-centering inside our forged housings. You can also note that we did replace that factory coilover with our MetalCloak Rocksport Adjustable Coilover set with that same remote reservoir.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, rear adjustable durotrak track bar, durotrak bushings vibration damping differential clearance bends

[02:58] Alrighty, we're almost wrapped up. This kit also includes our Adjustable Rear Track Bar that features our patented Durotrak Bushings on both sides for maximum vibration damping. This is strong 4130, 1.25" solid chromoly bar that also offers bends in order to make sure you clear the differential no matter where you are at the suspension travel.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, Installation complete back from alignment

[03:24] Alright we just wrapped up everything, got it all dialed in, fresh back from alignment. Let's go give it to the customer and see what she thinks.

[03:49] So yeah, this is our full-blown kit. So replaces all of the factory coilovers with our Adjustable Rocksport Black Reservoir. Adjustable coilovers there with the Upper A-arms. And you've got your adjustment knobs right here. We've got it all set to four all the way around right now. Kind of a good middle ground just to see how you like it. And then you can work yourself either softer, which would be the lower settings or stiffer, obviously, the higher settings.

[04:22] And then working our way back. Again, our Adjustable Reservoir Coilovers in the rear with that adjustment knob located on the bottom here. Okay. Rear Upper Control Arms, Rear Lower Control arms, our Adjustable Rear Track Bar.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, install upgrades finished, test it out at Prarie City

[04:39] Awesome, April. Well, it's all finished up. Let's go test it out at Prairie City. Absolutely. Alrighty. Awesome. Thank you so much. You got it.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, super smooth ride headed to Prarie City

[04:46] Super smooth. So I let it rip a little bit, headed to Prairie City, and it was awesome.

Metalcloak Ford Bronco 6G Badlands Sasquatch Upgrade, off-road obstacle course, let it rip absorbing bumps, dial in suspension

[04:54] It seemed to like, when we were on the track and I would let it rip a little bit, it was absorbing a lot of the bumps more so than before and I'm excited to break it in more and be able to dial in that suspension and either play with it from each end but it was really cool.
