00:00 Today, we're gonna install the tie rod brace kit for the Bronco 6G.
00:04 Hey.
00:06 I'm Scott Becker with MetalCloak here.
00:10 The Bronco tie rod brace reinforces the weakest spot on the factory tie rod.
00:16 The tie rod brace replaces the oe jam nut and adds strength to the threaded ends of the tie rod to help prevent bending or breaking.
00:28 Before we do the install, let's go to metalcloakinstructions.com, print out the instructions, and read completely through them.
00:40 Once we understand what we're getting into and we certainly have the necessary tools and skills, we can start in on the installation.
00:48 Now let's go down to the shop and get started.
00:51 Our Bronco is already in a safe location and ready to be worked on.
00:55 So we're gonna unbox the contents and verify that all the parts listed on the instruction page are accounted for before taking anything apart.
01:03 Looks like we're good to go.
01:06 The tie rod brace kit will be installed here on the Bronco.
01:10 Remove the wheel.
01:12 Loosen the tie rod jam nut with a twenty one millimeter wrench and mark the threads where the outer section meets with the inner section.
01:22 Remove the tie rod outer section from the steering knuckle.
01:26 Using the tie rod puller, disconnect the tie rod.
01:30 Completely unthread the tie rod outer section from the intersection.
01:35 Remove the jam nut and replace it with the MetalCloak tie rod sleeve.
01:41 The unthreaded end of the sleeve should be towards the steering rack.
01:46 Thread the tie rod outer section back onto the inner section and align to the mark on the threads.
01:53 Reinstall the outer section to the knuckle with a twenty one millimeter socket.
01:57 Tighten down the sleeve against the outer section with a twenty one millimeter and twenty three millimeter wrench.
02:04 It is recommended to get your alignment checked after installing the MetalCloak tie rod sleeve.
02:12 Now that we're all done, all there is to do is to go out and enjoy your Bronco.
