Why Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation?

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation was founded in 2002 by David and Cynthia Kim. Since then, it has invested more than $105 million in scholarships and educational counseling for military children who lost a parent in the line of duty.
The foundation’s work goes beyond tuition. It includes college and trade school scholarships, educational assistance, career support, pre-college guidance, and a community built around the unique needs of Gold Star children.
Their vision is to ensure that every child of a fallen patriot receives the educational support they need. More than 25,000 children nationwide have lost a parent in the line of duty, and Children of Fallen Patriots exists to help close the gap between government benefits and the real cost of education.

Now Part of the Tunnel to Towers Family
In April 2026, Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced the acquisition of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, bringing together two organizations focused on honoring sacrifice by supporting families. Tunnel to Towers stated that the acquisition is focused on expanding educational support for 15,000 children of fallen heroes, while preserving the legacy and mission of Children of Fallen Patriots.
Tunnel to Towers also recently launched the Mae and George Siller Scholarship Program, which provides full tuition for undergraduate degrees and accredited trade schools for children in eligible Tunnel to Towers programs, including Gold Star families and families of fallen first responders.
That connection matters.
Tunnel to Towers is known nationally for honoring the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller and supporting America’s heroes through programs for Gold Star families, fallen first responder families, catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, and veterans experiencing homelessness. Children of Fallen Patriots brings a powerful education-first mission into that larger family of support.
