Spindle and ball start as chromoly steel, then undergo induction hardening for maximum wear resistance. S-7 tool steel concave bearing races distribute force loads and resist memory steer over the long haul.

Presses in from the bottom of the C, then an aluminum lock nut and thread-on top cap capture it from both ends. Multiple Buna-N O-rings and shaft wiper seals keep contaminants out and grease in.
