In 1982, David Lewis, founder of Kargo Master, a premier manufacturer of van racks, truck racks and commercial vehicle storage equipment, followed his passion for all things offroad by developing a line of racks and accessories for Jeeps.

His Safari line grew over the years and in 2014 he partnered with Rustin Smith, founder of the famed Rubicon Express, to develop a more robust line of racks under the brand Kargo Master Safari, or KMS.

In January 2020, Metalcloak, known for being a premier manufacturer of Jeep fenders, bumpers and suspension systems, acquired the Kargo Master Safari line of products. [Read the Press Release here.]
