Crafted from high strength 6061-T6 billet aluminum, the Heavy Duty SportGate Tire Carrier Hinges are engineered to replace the factory hinges with a performance focused upgrade. These precision machined hinges are hard black anodized for maximum durability and corrosion resistance finish built to withstand the harshest conditions. Each hinge proudly features a laser-engraved MetalCloak “M” on the side.
The gold-zinced 3/8" hinge bridge is a critical structural component of the MetalCloak Heavy Duty SportGate Tire Carrier, engineered to reinforce and connect the two billet aluminum hinges from inside the Jeep’s tub. Fabricated from heavy duty steel and finished in a durable gold zinc coating for superior corrosion resistance, this internal brace installs using the factory hinge mounting holes and requires no drilling. By tying the upper and lower hinges together, the hinge bridge distributes the load of the spare tire evenly across the tub, minimizing stress and preventing long term damage. The Bridge adds strength, rigidity, and peace of mind to your SportGate setup.
The flanged bronze sleeve bearings used in the billet hinges of the MetalCloak SportGate Tire Carrier are designed for long lasting durability and smooth operation. They are precision machined to fit seamlessly into the heavy duty billet hinges. These bearings provide a low friction pivot point that resists wear over time. The flanged design ensures secure placement within the hinge housing, preventing movement or shifting during use, while the self-lubricating bronze material offers reliable performance with minimal maintenance.
Provisions for the rear back up camera are built in. The the completed structure allows the rear vent of the tail gate to function as intended by the factory.
Important Note: MetalCloak recommends no more than a maximum wheel/tire combo weight of 130lbs on the SportGate Tire Carrier.

Brake Light Options
Stock 3rd Brake Light Mount
Retain a clean factory look when using a larger size spare tire, by using the MetalCloak 3RD Brake Light Mount; the mount uses the factory light already on your Jeep and mounts it to the adjustable height, 1/8" steel assembly that works in conjunction with the SportGate Tire Carrier. Dual purpose bracket function also provides the perfect mounting location for a CB antennae, Sand Flag, or accessory light.
License Plate & 3rd Brake Light Mount
The Relocation Bracket and 3rd brake light kit has a bright LED for the rear brake light and an LED for illuminating the license plate. This is a simple and effective way to relocate you plate into the center of your wheel. (Learn More)
